Situated in the heart of the historic ‘Down-a-long’ area of St Ives, the cottage is neatly tucked away on a traffic-free cobbled lane. With its statement baby blue doors and porthole window, the owners of Porthole Cottage have created a stylish, yet comfortable haven.
Recently renovated to a high standard, Porthole Cottage has a light and spacious interior that is both stylish and homely making it ideal for that summer family holiday or cosy winter break.
Kitchen Diner
Originally a net store, the open plan kitchen- diner is accessed by the lower stable door directly off Baileys Lane. The kitchen features an electric hob, with double electric oven and grill, dishwasher and fridge-freezer. The Nespresso coffee machine, built in microwave and washer drier makes for home from home.
The dining area has a wall mounted 32” Smart TV, cottage table with built in bunkett seating and church chairs to comfortably seat five people. Adjoining the open plan space is a cloakroom and under-stair storage cupboard. Up the stairs to the first floor you reach the living area.
Living Room
The light and airy living area has large sash windows with views overlooking Baileys Lane and also a window seat looking along the ‘Opeway’. A corner sofa and stylish ‘Werkstadt’ slipper chair occupy a spacious, yet cosy room arranged around a contemporary Charnwood log burner on a slate hearth. 43” Smart TV, DVD and Bluetooth speaker.
The glazed door gives access to the porch which is a useful space for hanging coats or wetsuits, this leads to the second front door at the top of the granite steps.
Stairs lead up to the second floor.
Master Bedroom
Featuring a metal framed king sized bed, vintage bedside table and occasional chair to each side. Large built in wardrobe and wall mounted 28” Television. Period sash windows with views onto Baileys Lane.
Second Bedroom
With views down the ‘Opeway’ and sea views over the harbour and St Ives Bay beyond, this light filled room features a double bed with a single bunk bed over, accessed by ladder and fitted safety guard. Wall mounted 28” TV & DVD player.
Family Bathroom
Striking wall tiling with a WC, Basin and Bath with thermostatic shower over. Heated towel rail, robe hooks and mirror with shaving point.

I stayed at Porthole Cottage over the New Years celebrations and it was just fantastic. The cottage itself has been renovated to a beautiful standard with real attention to detail and thoughtfulness to make our stay so special. The quality and finish is far better than ive seen of other holiday homes we have stayed at in the past and would highly recommend it. Not to mention the 30 second walk and you are on the harbour. It is a truly special spot and beautiful cottage, and I cannot praise it enough.
We have been coming to St Ives for the last ten years, Porthole is up with the nicest places we have stayed. Very well equipped, very well suited for our toddler. Will be looking forward to staying again.
